*Inspiration #3: “Throwing Rocks at the Train”

*Technical Focus:
+ Alternate Picking
+ Modal Distinction
+ Musicality

*Title:
I grew up in a small town & we were always told to stay away from the train tracks.
so what would we do?
...bike down to line the tracks with wood & garbage!

after it smashed through our debris, we would whip rocks at the side of the train.
just for kicks!
oh, the sound it made!
that feeling of connecting with, of "being able to touch" something so large & dangerous...
to me, the title "Throwing Rocks at the Train" basically means 'doing exactly what you were told not to do'

I feel like the notes in this piece mimic the motion of a train.
as I listen, I can picture rocks deflecting from the side of the train and landing wherever they will.

It is Inspiration #3 because the first move in each position is Root - 3rd.
Also, the shift from E Major (of Inspirations 1 & 2) to D Major (Inspiration #3) seems to mark a significant spectral change - that is, it gives the feeling that the songs are proceeding with some intentionality.
